I am in South Central Indiana. Counties around Bloominton, IN. I have heard several reports of them around here. My favorite and most authentic involved an elderly lady coming home from church in the middle of the afternoon. This occurred in Green County, IN. I was at a friend’s house one Sunday afternoon. An elderly lady came to visit his mother after church. They lived out in the country. She came in the house and was all excited. She said she saw a monkey crossing the road when she was taking a drive around the country roads. So yep, we have them here too.

Steeping the berries for a bit longer will definitely darken the color. After bringing them to a boil, crush them and let them soak for a while (overnight would be optimal) also maybe try adding the gum arabic to the liquid after its been strained as this is generally what causes the ink to thicken! You can also add a few drops of clove, thyme or peppermint essential oil which will extend your inks shelf life :) Loved this video though, it's got me itching to forage some pigments come spring!

Its me again. SO I wen to the Home Depot and purchased 10 -24 threaded rods as well as the nuts. I get home and I found out the rod is 5/8 inch in diameter, much too big for the beads. You must be using the smaller sized rods, yes?

I mix all dry ingredients except the citric acid and the oils, adding the citric acid last to help prevent its activation

I don't use color or scent for that reason.

I first happened upon the work of Richard Le Gallienne about thirty years ago when I read his Little Dinners With the Sphinx. I've now read about ten volumes of his writings (courtesy of Gutenberg and Kindle) and am currently finishing The Romance Of Zion Chapel (1898). There is no way of preparing for what will occur with you when you reach the middle of that novel and what follows. Perhaps the mixture of tenderness, uncompromising candor, stark fatalism and the most hopeless yet still vibrant of all hopes it contains is not for any but the strong of spirit and the all-generous of heart. Perhaps even then it will be too potent, too exacting, too unpitying and too pitiful. But it's worth the most dangerous of risks.

Thank you so much for this series on how valuable local resources are to a person for research regarding cemeteries. Often in doing so, a person searching for more information about their ancestor and their final resting place has a decided advantage in doing this preliminary search before venturing out to a cemetery and wandering around not really being sure where they should be looking. Yes, Find A Grave, BillionGraves, etc. all have their place and it is always good to check those resources, but the more local you focus for the the ones you need additional help with, the more possibilities exist that you'll find the help you need.
